The Scottish arm of AFBE-UK was inaugurated on the 4th of November 2011 in Aberdeen. We promote higher achievements in education and engineering in Scotland particularly among people from black and minority ethnicity (BME) backgrounds.

Aberdeen, the energy capital of Europe is a vibrant, multicultural city with a thriving engineering industry. Over the years, AFBE-UK Scotland has rolled out of numerous, workshops, conferences, seminars, mentoring programmes and networking events in and around Aberdeen. We have also enjoyed a warm reception from key players in the Oil and Gas industry and the community at large.

“I commend the Association for Black Engineers UK (AFBE-UK) for its tireless efforts to promote the engineering profession, especially to young people of Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) backgrounds in the UK. This work is an excellent example of encouraging partnership between stakeholders in the engineering communities and supporting young people as they embark on a range of exciting career paths in science and technology.”Vince Cable MP, Business Secretary (2012)
