Ollie is a chartered chemical engineer working in the energy industry and chairman of the award -winning AFBE -UK Scotland and co - founder of AFBE -UK. Ollie graduated with a BEng in Chemical Process Engineering with Fuel Technology from the University of Sheffield in 1999 and then earned a Doctorate (PhD) in Fuels and Combustion from University of Leeds in 2002 authoring five international publications in the field of combustion and engineering. To date Ollie has worked on Major CAPEX Front End Engineering Design, Detailed Design, and commissioning Projects.

In 2018 Ollie Folayan was accepted into the Fellowship of the Institution of Chemical Engineers.
Ollie has championed successful outreach programmes such as Making Engineering Hot, NextGen (Scotland), Transition and Real Projects and has co-authored three publications on the influence of role models in the transition from academic study to the workplace and on the sustainability of the engineering profession in the UK.

In addition, Ollie has also been involved with a number of successful community initiatives through organizations such as Shell and the Royal Academy of Engineering. Ollie has chaired a number of AFBE -UK annual seminars featuring key industry leaders and politicians and is a regular speaker at events on varied engineering topics. Ollie is a member of the All-Energy Diversity and Inclusion task group setup in 2019 by Oil and Gas UK. Ollie is an avid sports fan and his other interests including singing, mentoring, and reading on various subjects. 

Olaiyide Akinsomi (BEng., MSc, CEng., MIChemE)

Olayide is General Secretary of AFBE-UK Scotland. She is a Chartered Chemical Engineer with 14 years’ experience in Production Operations (offshore and onshore) and Projects (subsea pipelines maintenance and decommissioning). Olayide graduated from the University of Nottingham with a degree in Chemical Engineering in 2002 and an MSc in Computer Science from the University of Bath in 2003.
An experienced project lead with a demonstrable track record in leading and safely delivering large scale on time and within budget.
Olayide is also a STEM Ambassador and through AFBE, has been actively involved in the NextGen programme (an outreach programme promoting STEM to young people in primary and secondary schools within underrepresented communities in Scotland).

Dr Ikechukwu Onyegiri (BEng, MSc, PhD)

Ikechukwu is a Rigid Pipeline Installation Engineer with a doctorate in Mechanical engineering with key focus on the mechanics of pipe-in-pipe systems during deep-water installation. Ikechukwu currently works with the pipeline engineering project support team within TechnipFMC, focusing on projects in the UKCS, NCS and Gulf of Mexico. In this role, he is responsible for finite element analysis and numerical computation related to the reeling and installation of pipe-in-pipe systems.

Outside of work, Ikechukwu is involved in music production and sound engineering, tutoring STEM related courses for high school and undergraduates, and video game testing.

She is a professional member of the Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining (IOM3), a STEM Ambassador. She is the Head of Communications for the ‘African Affinity Forum (AAF) at Baker Hughes. She is the CEO of Asa West - a UK based fashion retailer established in 2017. She founded ‘More Blessed to Give’ charity in 2012- a charity which provides outreach and support for homeless men, women, and kids as well as financially supporting individuals for higher education. She also founded S.O.L.T (Sisters of Light & Truth) in 2018 - a Christian women’s ministry which provides a platform for support and encouragement.

Simeon Jake Agbaza is currently EnQuest’s Decommissioning Removals Engineering Lead, with responsibility for the safe, effective, and efficient execution of the removals phase of the Heather and Thistle Asset Decommissioning Programme in collaboration with Well Plug and Abandonment (P&A), Engineering Down and Clean (EDC), and Operations streams of EnQuest’s Decommissioning Project. He also maintains relationships with key contractors and other interfaces for the execution of Topsides and Jacket removal scopes for both assets.
Prior to his moving into current role, he served as a Technical Authority Lifting for EnQuest for a 12-month period where he provided technical leadership within his area of expertise, promoting the safety of personnel and equipment whilst optimising operational processes and practices. He was also chiefly accountable for delivering performance and improvements in effective management of major accident hazard barriers that promoted the safety of lifting operations in accordance with company standards, industry best practices, and regulations.
His obligation also included approving deviations, modifications, and operational risk assessments in support of maintenance and operational activities, ensuring best practice and learning is transferred across all EnQuest controlled offshore and onshore assets.
Before joining EnQuest in January 2019, Jake served as Lead Integrity Engineer and Manager for Lloyd’s Register’s Asset Integrity Maintenance Optimisation (Lifting) Division for 6.5 years, where he was responsible for managing a team of multi-disciplined specialist engineers in the delivery of inspection and compliance projects to the high quality expected by clients in the oil and gas energy business.
He is a Chartered Engineer and holds a master’s degree in Oil and Gas Engineering form the Robert Gordon University and currently studying for a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from the same university. Denis Pinto

Denis is a Flow Measurement and Hydrocarbon Allocation Consultant with extensive commercial and engineering skills in hydrocarbon measurement for the oil and gas industry.

He has been working in the oil and gas industry for over 30 years, during this time he worked in a number of engineering posts within the Burmah Oil Company, British National Oil Corporation, Britoil and BP.

Denis has worked both in the UK and overseas. Currently he is the Measurement and Allocation Technical Authority, UK Business Unit for Premier Oil. He is also very actively involved with the Energy Institute where he was Chairman of the Aberdeen Highlands and Islands Branch and helped to grow the membership of the branch.

He developed The Energy Institute Young Professional Network and helped reshape the Energy Institute Constitution to have a Young Professional Network. He is currently helping to develop young members in all Energy Institute’s UK and International Branches. At present he is Chairman of the Hydrocarbon Management (HMC 1) Upstream Technical Group developing Energy Institute guidelines/standards and also joint guidelines/standards with API.

He is also a member of Robert Gordon University Industry Board for the School of Engineering where he has been involved with helping to develop industry relevant courses.

He has been actively involved with the AFBE since it formed its Scottish Branch (AFBE-UK Scotland) and regularly participates in AFBE Transition Events.
He is also a mentor to the World Petroleum Youth Committee with mentees in several countries. In 2008 he worked with the International World Petroleum Youth Committee to run successful Youth Events at the 19th World Petroleum Congress (WPC).

Roy has over 10 years of experience in business, sales and entrepreneurship having started his own company in Nigeria and has co-founded 2 start-up companies in the UK. He has participated in various entrepreneurial workshops and accelerator programs across the UK where he won pitching competitions and grants for his business.

He is a Geologist with degrees in geology and mining, a master’s in environmental management and a doctorate in geology focused on reservoir characterisation for CO2 storage.

Beatrice Siyanbola (MEng)

She spent her placement year at one of GlaxoSmithKline’s manufacturing sites in the UK. In 2019, she also sat on the judging panel of the National Undergraduate Employability Awards organised by RateMyPlacement as the only student judge. Joy is a qualified member of the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply and an Associate of the Royal School of Mines Imperial College London. She holds a Master of Engineering in Petroleum Engineering from Imperial College London and has over 15 years’ experience working in the Oil and Gas Sector. She began her career with Shell Exploration and Production Limited as a Production Technologist responsible for production optimisation of a portfolio consisting of gas wells in the North Eastern region of the Netherlands. This quickly progressed to being responsible for managing a portfolio of oil and gas wells in the Central and Northern North Sea region in the UK with operations from Aberdeen, Scotland. She later transitioned to a career in Supply Chain Management with a focus on oil and gas related contracts. She has held leadership positions within the organisations with whom she worked has held several consulting and contracting roles across leading oil and gas operator and service companies alike. She is currently consulting for a reputable oil and gas operator in Aberdeen, Scotland and is currently a lead of her organisation’s Ethnicity Network. Joy is a mother of 3, a keen baker and fitness enthusiast who enjoys travelling. Abhishek Goswami – (MSc MBA)

While his day job comprises of leading a team of Data and Workflow managers deliver digital solutions and workflow support for Shell’s UK business, his interests include developing a better understanding of how to lower CO2 footprint of existing operations and promote low carbon scalable energy solutions. He is an avid follower of the subject of carbon pricing and potential impact of climate change policies on investment portfolios, changes to investment strategies and reallocation of capital toward low-carbon or climate-resilient activities. Beside work, Abhi enjoys spending quality time mentoring junior colleagues, interns, and students engaged with several charities and non-governmental organisations.

Emma Opara

Emma is a lawyer with extensive experience initially gained from commercial legal practise before transitioning to in-house roles in the energy industry.
These positions have spanned across the oil, gas, power generation, operations, and utilities sectors of the industry and offered her unique opportunities to support business organisations in West Africa and the United Kingdom, working with both industry contractors and operators.
Her areas of focus are providing legal risk management and project advisory services for commercial operations, while ensuring senior leadership is able to positively react to legislative change and policy drivers.
Due to the complexity of projects and workspaces that she has been interacted with throughout her career, she has developed a keen understanding that there is more to any role than the hard skills which we accrue over the course of time. Denis is a Flow Measurement and Hydrocarbon Allocation Consultant with extensive commercial and engineering skills in hydrocarbon measurement for the oil and gas industry.

He has been working in the oil and gas industry for over 30 years, during this time he worked in a number of engineering posts within the Burmah Oil Company, British National Oil Corporation, Britoil and BP.

Denis has worked both in the UK and overseas. Currently he is the Measurement and Allocation Technical Authority, UK Business Unit for Premier Oil. He is also very actively involved with the Energy Institute where he was Chairman of the Aberdeen Highlands and Islands Branch and helped to grow the membership of the branch.

He developed The Energy Institute Young Professional Network and helped reshape the Energy Institute Constitution to have a Young Professional Network. He is currently helping to develop young members in all Energy Institute’s UK and International Branches. At present he is Chairman of the Hydrocarbon Management (HMC 1) Upstream Technical Group developing Energy Institute guidelines/standards and also joint guidelines/standards with API.

He is also a member of Robert Gordon University Industry Board for the School of Engineering where he has been involved with helping to develop industry relevant courses.

He has been actively involved with the AFBE since it formed its Scottish Branch (AFBE-UK Scotland) and regularly participates in AFBE Transition Events.
He is also a mentor to the World Petroleum Youth Committee with mentees in several countries. In 2008 he worked with the International World Petroleum Youth Committee to run successful Youth Events at the 19th World Petroleum Congress (WPC).

He is also involved with Student Energy and has been on the board of two successful International Student Energy Summits in Norway and Indonesia and an European Student Energy Summit in Aberdeen. He is also a member of the Axis Network where he is responsible for the Mentoring Programme.

Since July 2018 he has been the Engineering Manager at SSE - Peterhead Power Station, Scotland’s largest CCGT site. He manages a multidisciplinary engineering team of 25 responsible for providing safe and efficient asset management solutions.

Prior to that he was the Lead Electrical Engineer at SSE – Engineering Centre for about 2 years. Prior to that he worked as a Senior Electrical Engineer with Genesis Energy in New Zealand for about 10 years.
He has published/delivered numerous presentations at conference venues in New Zealand, Australia, France, Ireland, UK and US. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) degree and is currently undertaking an MBA on a part time basis.
